Getting stuck happens. Staying stuck doesn’t have to. The gap between where you are and where you want to be is not nearly as wide as you think it is. Often we get cemented into ways of operating and patterns of thinking that when disrupted through radical curiosity and thoughtful courage lead us towards our greatest potential. This talk will walk you through the core tenets of breakthrough thinking that will fundamentally change how you approach your creative business.

Back in high school, you were probably taught some basic things about Public Speaking. Look around the room. Make sure you gesture. And so on.
Those things aren’t wrong or inaccurate. But they’re not the battle most speakers are facing.
In this keynote, Mike Pacchione – who has coached speakers like James Clear, Donald Miller and Amy Porterfield – will walk you through how to become someone who owns the room. We’ll discuss both the mental and physical elements of being on stage. Fans of Ted Lasso will be happy to know Roy Kent is involved in this explanation.
Mike Pacchione has trained over 10,000 presenters in his day, 9999 of whom are the better for it. Trusted by some of the world’s top companies like Nike, Slack, Microsoft, Convertkit and top industry leaders like James Clear, Donald Miller and Pat Flynn, Mike shares his secrets to prepare creatives like you to give presentations that leave your audience wanting more.
Join creative writer and co-owner of Showit, Elisa Watson for a breakout session entitled Words as Tools. Words are tools and, like any tool, there are better and worse ways to use them! When used effectively, words can educate us, entertain us, make us think deeply, inspire us, and bring us to tears. Some people have a natural way with words and others have to work a little harder at it but luckily. – as with physical tools – we all get better the more we practice. In this workshop we won’t be looking at nitty gritty grammar rules but rather at strategies for being more creative with the linguistic tools we already have at our disposal.
Elisa loves words the way toddlers love toys – she admires them, wants to accumulate them, enjoys playing with them, shows them off to other people (who may or may not think they’re nearly as interesting as she does), and gets irrationally upset when someone misuses them. She likes to read words as well as write them, and is always delighted to find other people who feel the same. She and her husband Todd live in Gilbert, AZ, where they are raising four articulate and semi-well-read sons.

While creating educational experiences and offerings (from mentoring to course creation) can be heavy work, the reward of helping your peers, your community, and your industry grow and thrive is incredible! The goal of this workshop is to share a few steps to get you started on the path of transitioning into the role of industry educator, share tips on deciding is becoming an educator is right for you, and to start to equip those who have the heart to share their gifts and knowledge well.
